The SciShield (formerly BioRaft) system is used to submit and track protocol submissions to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
All laboratories are required to register in SciShield. Registrations in SciShield are tied to the principal investigator rather than a specific protocol or lab space. PIs with multiple IBC protocols or lab spaces will only need to submit one SciShield registration although they may need to submit multiple project descriptions and/or forms within the registration.
To register a laboratory, a PI or their delegate must complete the General Laboratory Setup Wizard. Laboratories that are working with biological agents (exempt and non-exempt protocols) must also complete the Biological Registration Wizard.
