October 2018 Biosafety Month
Enter the Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) competition to win lunch for you and your lab. Create a video demonstrating one or more aspects of laboratory safety. Examples include:
- Donning and Doffing of Personal Protective Equipment
- Correct use of a Biosafety cabinet
- Correct use and disposal of sharps
- How to clean up a spill of a biological material
- How to dispose of biohazardous waste
- What to do in the event of an exposure
The video should be less than 5 minutes in length and can be submitted below. Videos can be serious or amusing but must not contain unsafe practices that pose a danger to anyone involved. The competition will close December 31st, 2018 and the winner will be announced on January 31st, 2019. Examples of safety videos can be found on the OEHS website: https://oehs.utah.edu/media-library. The best video, as judged by OEHS staff, will win a lunch for the lab or group submitting the video. The best videos in each category will be posted to the OEHS website and may be used in training sessions. *
