The BioRAFT system is used to submit and track protocol submissions to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), track laboratory staff training, and manage audits of laboratory spaces.

All laboratories are required to register in BioRAFT. Registrations in BioRAFT are tied to the principal investigator rather than a specific protocol or lab space. PIs with multiple IBC protocols or lab spaces will only need to submit one BioRAFT registration although they may need to submit multiple project descriptions and/or forms within the registration.

To register a laboratory, a PI or their delegate must complete the General Laboratory Setup Wizard. Laboratories that are working with biological agents (exempt and non-exempt protocols) must also complete the Biological Registration Wizard.
